QUIZ: Why was I able to remove directories on which I had such meager permissions?
ANSWER: I retained write permissions on the second-level subdirectory
So I could alter the contents of that directory
$ ls -ld /tmp/10082_base_nofile/
drwxrwxr-x 2 jkeenan jkeenan 4096 Jul 20 12:47 /tmp/10082_base_nofile/
